Dr. Mary Fierro currently serves as Vice President of Behavioral Health Services at the Edward M. Kennedy Community Health Center, a position she has held since 2014. Dr. Fierro joined the staff in 2005 as Deputy Director of Behavioral Health at the Health Center’s flagship medical site in Worcester.
Dr. Fierro is an integral part of the health center’s Medical Home Team, working to integrate mental health care into primary care, to insure seamless health care for all health center patients. Dr. Fierro has worked on many health initiatives with high risk patients, focused on improving their access and use of both medical and mental health services.
Dr. Fierro has acted as site PI for various grant and research projects, as well as the director of multiple program initiatives, all aimed at reducing healthcare disparities. She is co-author of a peer-reviewed article that presents the findings from one of the research studies.
Prior to joining Kennedy CHC, Dr. Fierro was the Program Administrator for the Dorothy B. Hersh Regional Child Protection Center at Saint Peters University Hospital. She also provided treatment for trauma victims and families, and was an Adjunct Professor at Rutgers University GSSW for 12 years prior to relocating to Massachusetts.
Dr. Fierro received an MSW from Rutgers Graduate School of Social Work, and a PhD from Temple University. She is an experienced behavioral health professional skilled in managing departments, people, and projects, with a proven ability to design, develop, and direct the implementation of programs and services including both fiscal and service oversight, that provide educational, social, and health services in diverse communities. Dr. Fierro has extensive expertise in building collaborative relationships, both at the staff/management and community levels.
