Kennedy Community Health is excited to invite you to our Annual Costume Party on Friday, March 27th at the Jean McDonnagh Arts Center in Worcester, in partnership with Queer the Scene. Step back into time during the 90s and early 2000s for an evening of entertainment, featuring live performances by local artists and singers.

Enjoy delicious food, sip on craft cocktails from our open bar, and mingle with fellow community members in your best 90s and Y2K inspired attire. All proceeds from the event will support Kennedy Community Health’s mission to provide essential services to our community.

Hosted By: Giselle Byrd

Giselle Byrd is the Executive & Artistic Director of Boston’s The Theater Offensive, making her the first Black trans woman to lead a regional theatre company in the United States. She champions the work of queer and transgender artists of color and LGBTQIA2S+ youth and allies. In April 2025, she was appointed by Governor Healey to the Massachusetts Commission on the Status of Women, where she continues their mission to advance equity for all women and girls and serves as the Vice Chair of the Programming and Planning Committee.

Candace Persuasian

Candace has been deeply involved in queer advocacy through organizations like MAP for Health, BAGLY, Fenway Health, Massachusetts General Hospital – supporting trans and non-binary individuals in accessing gender-affirming care.

Candace was formerly a Community Relations specialist with the Mayor’s Office of LGBTQIA2S+ Advancement where she championed brave, inclusive spaces throughout the city she loves. This includes being a part of the core team that removed the requirement for couples to disclose their gender identity when applying for a marriage certificate.

Candace is widely known for her drag persona, Candace Persuasian. She has received the 2022 Trans Excellence Award from the Massachusetts Transgender Political Coalition and was also featured in Beyoncé’s Renaissance Film after a viral moment holding a “Trans is Beautiful” sign garnering international attention from PinkNews, Billboard and Gaytimes.

Chanel The Angel

Chanel The Angel is a poc boston based performer who hopes her visibility and dedication can be an example of strength and perseverance. She’s performed for the first LGBTQ night at the Red Sox, opened for Chappell Roan and performed with Kesha.
Outside of drag, she works at the trans emergency fund of Massachusetts

Ecco Sky

Ecco Sky is a Jack of all trades, and is the 2024 Second Majesty of Pride Worcester. She enjoys learning and considers herself a student of life, and a lover of humanity. Wherever she goes, she sees the beauty and love in the people she meets, and the experiences she discovers. With an affinity for creating and cultivating beauty in the world within and around her, she loves to leave a positive impact wherever she goes.

Joss Bracero

Joss Bracero is a trans writer living in Worcester, MA. His work has appeared in The Worcester Review and Honey Literary Journal. He is the recipient of the 2024 Elizabeth Bishop Manuscript Prize, awarded by the Worcester County Poetry Association. Joss currently works in the teen and young department at the Framingham Public Library and is interested in pursuing a master’s degree in library and information sciences. Joss was born in Lafayette, Louisiana and had resided in Worcester since 2011.
